Post context: This blog is really centered on healing old habits. These days, I try to write down what’s on my mind, because there’s less room in there to keep things compartmentalized. That neat survival trick where I could keep everything tucked in and tidy, away from prying eyes is no longer serving me or my mental health. Part of why this blog exists is because I consider it a cathartic practice to share what’s bothering me while balancing all the things in my life as a working professional, parent, spouse, sister, daughter, you name it and sometimes, while writing…arrive…

Monday, March 24 – Sunday, March 30 what did I do this week? This week was a return to normalcy in my class routines. Spring break is now in the rear view and so are my fleeting gaming sessions, hasta luego Fields of Mistria. This week’s course content was fairly light for one of my classes which I appreciate as it gave me time to adjust to re-managing two courses this semester. Highlighted resources that were discussed in this week’s lectures: I also took some time to write my first long post for the blog. what worked? Believe it or…

Post context: I’ve recently added “medical librarianship” to the subtitle of this blog, but in doing so, I also want to share some insights into this label by reflecting on how the professional and personal have played a role in my life. This blog is a fluid project for me so things may change and when they do, I’ll try to provide more context to you, fellow reader. This is my longest post to date, but I hope the insights help to provide a moment of self-reflection in thinking how the professional and personal manifests in your life. Since the…

I absolutely love coming across old blogs, you know, the ones that still exist on the internet, maybe they were published in the height of the blogosphere around the 2010s and slowly died out a few years later. They haven’t been updated in years, and yet, they offer some good words of wisdom, kernels of knowledge, or hold a bundle of blog posts filled with interesting reads. Whenever I come across one, I feel like a virtual urban explorer (“urbex“) winding my way through blog posts, reading the authors’ bios, and wondering, “hey, whatever happened to this person?” What new…

Monday, March 3 – Sunday, March 9 what did I do this week? This past week was a stressful one, primarily because I had my first mid-term since returning back to school. In the course of a week, I had to turn in my mid-term participation notes, my module 6 participation notes, a group assignment, complete a midterm, complete an assignment post-mid term and follow-up on my group assignment coding project. By Sunday morning, my brain resembled a blob fish out of water. what worked? If I can help it, by far, starting early was the best technique in getting…

what did I do this week? what worked? Starting early was helpful, I even finished all the assignments for one of my classes one day early – also setting time aside with family and doing non-school things like personal readings were a nice break what didn’t work? Wrapping assignments up for one of my two classes by Sunday – they got in just in time, but I prefer not to push it too close to the deadline what can I do to improve or will try to improve? I still think daily check-ins are critical, but I’m also going to…

I’ll try to do this series as time allows, but I’m excited to share how my first week back in graduate school has gone, so here goes: what did I do this week? what worked? Starting early (prepping notes, completing required readings, etc.) what didn’t work? Wrapping assignments up on Sunday what can I do to improve or will try to improve? Do daily check-ins and work on my required readings and setting my notes and assignments early, submitting by Saturday what did I listen to, to get through the week? what interesting article or quote did I come across?…

The spring semester is exactly 9 days away (but who’s counting, right 🤷🏻♀️). To be honest, I’ve been cherishing the calm before the storm. In fact, I’ve been using this time to do my personal prep work leading up to the first set of classes. Planning for me has been the best way to fight against the stress I get when procrastinating, especially as the new semester approaches. What’s nice about all the preparation is that it’s led to my first ever printable and it’s a checklist 😊. Let me explain…I find that the best way for synthesizing everything I’ve…

It’s 2025! We’re officially in the new year and a few weeks away from the start of the spring semester. I’m enjoying the quiet and calm before getting my first series of assignments and deadlines. Yes, I’m looking forward to my classes, my readings, and most importantly taking another spin at being a student again just with a few changes in mind. I aim to prioritize my health and making this academic journey sustainable and fulfilling. That being said, here’s a few things I’m choosing to let go of or embrace: hydrationI will hydrate more, but when the days get…

Have you ever applied twice to the same program? No? Are you sure? It’s just me then. Well let me share my story anyway…Back in 2023, I was so excited when I finally made the decision to go back to school and pursue my MPH. I completed my application, the program currently received a massive grant and was waiving application fees, woo-hoo!, and I didn’t need my GRE to apply (that was optional). I also had my three letters of recommendation in mind. I spoke to faculty so that I could better understand the program disciplinary tracks in order to…
